1994-2003 616 OFFICERS WERE KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. THE AVERAGE AGE OF OFFICERS KILLED IN 2003 WAS 38. OFFICERS KILLED IN 2003 HAD OVER 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE. OF THE 52 OFFICERS KILLED, MOST DIED CONDUCTING TRAFFIC STOPS. 9 WERE KILLED DURING AN AMBUSH SITUATION.
